Synopsis
Production 149.png
IMG_0230.HEIC

Adapted from the three-time-Tony-nominated Broadway hit, A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS brims joyfully with a jazzy, upbeat score that bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, this show tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

A Year With Frog and Toad KIDS follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way - including the importance of being yourself and eating cookies! Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Their friends and neighbors all join in the fun as well, including gossipy Turtle, practical Mouse, sassy Birds, and the determined mail-delivering Snails.

A fun-filled, joyful show, A Year With Frog and Toad KIDS is beloved by performers and audience members alike. We can't wait to share it with you!

Teen Acting Camp

Do you have a teen who wants to delve deeper into the world of acting?

Then this camp is a perfect fit!

This one-week camp teaches acting basics, develops relationships onstage, and will introduce a

tried-and-true approach to script analysis.

The campers' hard work will culminate in a demo-performance for friends and family.

KW Flames_colors.png
418.jpeg

MORE DETAILS

The 2020 Teen Acting Camp is for performers ages 12-18.  Together we will cover such topics as projection, physical acting, making bold choices, how to analyze a character/script, stage presence, improv, and developing & communicating relationships on stage - both live, and virtual! Campers will be given not only tools to become a better performer, but also skills that teach work ethic and inspire imagination, community, confidence, and passion.

  • Campers will receive a curriculum packet that they will use to learn how to analyze & develop a role and bring it to life on stage. Our curriculum is primarily based on the Stanislavsky system of acting, but we will also incorporate improvisational skills, traditional stock character types, and will touch on many other methods and approaches to acting.

  • We will hold auditions on the first day of camp for our demo-performance, which will be comprised of scene studies and possibly short plays.* Campers will spend the week applying all they learn to their assigned scripts.

  • ALL Campers will be assigned roles and rehearse, memorize, and develop these roles throughout the week. They will then perform for friends and family on Friday, July 31st to demonstrate all they have learned.

  • We guarantee tons of fun and ample stage time for all campers, as well as the intensity and challenge craved by teenage performers. It is our goal to send every camper away with fantastic tools they can continue to use!
    *
Please note, exact performance content will be determined by our total enrollment

NOTE: This camp will be capped at 12 campers - so don't wait to enroll!

AUDITION DETAILS

Auditions for roles will be held on the first day of camp. Please note that EVERY camper will receive an active role to portray in our end of camp demo-performance.

WHAT TO PREPARE:   We will be using acting sides from our chosen scripts, as well as improv exercises.

TIPS: - Be sure to practice projecting your voice and making character-appropriate choices.

          -  Since this will be a virtual camp, it is helpful to practice acting with a computer or mobile device screen ahead of time.

           - Warm up your voice in the morning using vocalises and tongue twisters, and do some simple stretches with your body.                 This will not only help you have better diction and expression, but will also get you warm and focused.

This is meant to be part of the learning experience, so take a deep breath and have fun!
