SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK CAMP (2nd - 8th grade)

July 24-28, 2023, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM - ONE WEEK CAMP

This camp is all about getting to know - and love! - the world of Shakespeare. Campers will learn and produce a condensed version of a Shakespeare play and explore the fascinating world of The Bard and Elizabethan England along the way! Discover all the details below.

 

MT CAMPS (ages 6-14)

Various Dates: June - August, 2023, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM - ONE WEEK CAMP/FOUR OPTIONS!

A series of camps focused entirely on our passion for Musical Theatre!  Campers will get to learn music, acting and choreography from exciting Broadway songs to fit each weekly theme. But the fun doesn't stop there - campers will also explore the world of design as we delve into the process of developing and sketching costumes, sets, and props for our chosen shows! A showcase will be performed at the end of each camp week for friends & family, with production design sketches proudly put on display! Discover all the details and weekly themes below.

ACTING UP! CAMP (2nd - 8th grade, mini-camp option for K-1st)

August 7-11, 2023, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM - ONE WEEK CAMP

For the budding actor - our Acting Up! Camp will focus on not only the craft of building a character and telling a story onstage, but will also explore technical theatre elements such as costume design, props, and creating a set. Performers will learn and perform a short play in one week, and will also learn the art of collaboration as they create the sets, costumes, and props necessary to put up a production. Come ready to work hard and play hard - both on and off the stage!

Shakespeare
        In The Park
                            Camp 

REGISTRATION INFO

Location:  KPA Home Studio (Located in the East Renton Highlands. Address will be sent upon registration.)

Dates:  

Camp Hours:  9:30 AM -  3:30 PM

Cost per camper: $300 per camper (Have a sibling? You will receive an automatic sibling discount per camp!)

Camper Ages: 2nd-8th grade (contact us about our half-day "mini" camp option for K-1st graders)

Additional Details: Auditions for roles will be held 2-3 weeks before the start of camp so performers may begin to learn lines. PLEASE NOTE - As of June 2022, Masks will be OPTIONAL for all campers & staff. As state and local mandates evolve we may update our policies. Camp families will be contacted regarding any changes.

Included:

  25+ Hours of Training in Acting & the World of Shakespeare

  Ample performance time for every camper

  Camp T-shirt (1 per camper) 

  A final Shakespeare performance, to take place outdoors

  A Special Note: Attendance is a very important aspect of this camp as the performers rely on each other throughout each day of camp, building their knowledge and skills together to produce our show in only 5 days. We understand that sickness may occur, but we ask that all campers schedule other activities or events outside of the normal camp hours in order to lessen the impact on the production and their fellow performers.

AUDITION DETAILS

Auditions will be held before the start of camp in order to allow us to distribute materials properly previous to the first day.  The cast list will be announced before the start of camp.

WHEN:  tentative - June 25,  2022 - specific time TBA

WHERE: KPA home studio (address will be sent after registration)

WHAT TO PREPARE:    We will use acting sides / cold readings from our chosen Shakespeare script. We may send out the materials ahead of time for the campers to look over, but no memorization is necessary.

Our Shakespeare in the Park performance will take place on , specific time TBD (most likely in the late afternoon).

With a new theme each week, each super-fun Musical Theatre Camps will 

culminate in a final demonstration for friends & family!

Spotlight on Disney - Featuring your favorite Disney tunes from the stage, this session is for

      June 26-30             anyone who loves shows such as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Grab your 

                                       mouse ears and get ready to sing like a Disney star!

Once Upon A Time - Storybooks have inspired us for centuries. This session will explore shows based on 

     July 10-14                those stories. Featuring songs from Into the Woods, Shrek, and more exciting tales!

Broadway's Best - Are you Broadway's biggest fan? Then this camp is for you! Featuring fan favorite songs             July 31-Aug 4            from Mean Girls, Little Shop of Horrorsand more, get ready to sing Broadway's biggest hits!

Twists & Turns - What goes better with the emotional ups-and-downs of a stage show than songs about

    August 14-18              transportation! Featuring fun travel songs from shows such as Newsies and Shrek, this camp 

                                          is all about the journey!

Camper Ages: 6-14

Included:

  25+ Hours of Training in Singing, Dancing, and Musical Theatre Acting

  Ample performance time for every camper

  Rehearsal materials (music tracks, lyrics, etc.)

  Camp T-shirt (1 per camper) 

  End-of-camp musical theatre showcase for friends & family

MORE DETAILS

The 2022 MT Camps are for performers ages 6-14  Campers will be trained in vocal technique, musical theatre acting & dance, stage presence, and group work. Together they will be given not only tools to become better performers, but also skills that teach work ethic and inspire imagination, community, confidence, and passion.

  • All Campers will learn and rehearse group and solo numbers fitting the week's theme and perform at the final demonstration on Friday for friends and family.

  • We guarantee tons of fun and ample performance time for all campers!

Summer Lessons

Summer Lessons

Summer is the perfect time to try out lessons for the first time, or to keep your skills fresh!
 

Enrollment will be opening soon for Summer Lessons in Voice and Acting! We offer flexible scheduling throughout the summer months - students can choose up to six weeks of lessons and may request Private or Semi-Private Lessons. We have limited availability so don't wait to get your spot!

***If you are interested in Semi-Private Lessons please contact us and we will set up a personalized registration for you. Please note that students taking Semi-Private lessons must arrange their own lesson partner.
